GVCC Celebrates Reformation Day
Children of all ages squirmed in their costumes as they eagerly awaited the start of the third annual Reformation Day Puppet Show. A boy in a lion suit sat up as straight as possible, for a better view of the hand constructed puppet stage; a girl in a prairie costume leaned over to her mom, whispering in hushed excitement. The lights dimmed, the spotlight appeared, and “God is With Me: The Story of Joseph” unfolded before
the congregation.
The puppet show was the result of hard work by many hands in the church body, and was a useful tool in ministering to children. The show vividly portrayed the great faith of Joseph in the midst of his trials, and encouraged believers of all ages to remember that God is always with those who belong to him.
The puppet show was only a portion of the Reformation Day festivities. A costume parade was held immediately following the show. Outfits ranged from babies dressed as giraffes to brothers dressed as World War II soldiers. After the service, children of all ages enjoyed face painting, bowling, obstacle courses, and miniature basketball, while others enjoyed a cakewalk and a delicious variety of baked goods.
Hold
ing to the tradition of Grace Valley’s Reformation Day celebration, the evening provided families with enjoyment and edification as they celebrated the Protestant Reformation.
