GVCC Youth Camp
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
This year’s youth camp was focused on the theme “Living by Faith” from Hebrews 11. Through the examples of the heroes of faith listed in this chapter, we heard messages on what it means to have faith and what the life of faith should look like. We were also encouraged by many testimonies that brought practical application and real-life examples of faith to the children attending this camp.
The children and staff came to camp this year with eager anticipation and God blessed all who heard and applied these messages to their lives. We had campers from grades 5-9 and several of them prayed to receive Christ during our time at Mount Lassen. Additionally, many children found their faith renewed and strengthened through repenting of sins and seeking God’s forgiveness. They were encouraged to make “battle plans” for how they would strengthen themselves for the future in order to live by faith successfully once they returned home. In addition to the messages we heard, the children enjoyed times of worship and prayer at our evening campfires on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. During the day we also enjoyed a wide range of activities including Capture the Flag, tug-of-war, hiking, swimming and making tie die T-shirts.
God blessed this camp and we give Him all the glory. May he be continually glorified in the lives of our children as they persevere in this life of faith shown to us in the book of Hebrews.
