Celebrating Reformation Day
October 31 is a very important day in Christian history as it marks Martin Luther’s posting of his 95 Theses on the church door in Wittenburg, which sparked the Protestant Reformation (For more information, see this blog post). On October 31 of this year, children at Grace Valley Christian Center eagerly anticipated the evening’s festivities.
The evening began with a program in the sanctuary where we heard a brief message about the Reformation and a reminder to pray for future generations as they rise up in the church. The message was followed by a costume march – a time where family and friends could see the various creative costumes the children wore.
After the service there were festivities in the gym including scooter races, face painting, bowling, fishing, and other types of games. There were also plenty of delicious homemade treats for sale in the kitchen. Children and adults alike greatly enjoyed the opportunity to fellowship and celebrate God’s faithfulness to the church by marking the beginning of the Protestant Reformation.
